Just checked out “ReadAir”:http://code.google.com/p/readair/wiki/ReleaseNotes — an Adobe Air desktop client for Google Reader. I ran it on a PowerBook G4 with 2GB RAM.
1) Not as responsive and quick as Google Reader online.
2) Doesn’t seem to hide “read” posts, or offer any such option.

Quick tip for users of “Google Reader”:https://www.google.com/reader/view/ and Safari.
Although Safari allows you to set a default RSS reader, it’s limited to desktop clients such as Mail.app, Vienna, or NetNewsWire. So, if you want to be able to click on a feed link (or RSS icon) and have that “handled”, you’ll want to install:
